The recent updates to Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin are a blast! The new animatronics and Buzz’s updated commentary are fantastic additions that really level up the atmosphere. The new 'pick up your gun' mechanic and the visible laser dots are huge functional wins, though they definitely move the goalposts on difficulty.
While seeing your dot is a major plus, the scoring now feels strictly tied to hitting the dead center of the bullseye. It’s a fun, high-stakes challenge, but it can feel a bit 'all or nothing' compared to the classic version. I’d love to see the scoring widened so any hit on the target counts, with the bullseye acting as a massive multiplier! Also, I wonder why they did not improve the Buzz animatronic face like they did with Elsa and Anna on Frozen Ever After ride. It is still a projection face. Overall, the ride looks better than ever—it’s just a much tougher test for your Inner Space Ranger now. To infinity and beyond!
